Wine & Streetfood
On 15 February 2025, the time had finally come: in the cosy Holzhütt’n on the Seggauberg, we hosted a very special event – an enjoyable afternoon full of natural wine and creative street food cuisine.
As early as 1 p.m., the location was filled with curious wine lovers and gourmets who were ready to embark on a culinary journey. Together with Karl Schnabel, a veteran of the natural wine scene, and Harald Gärtner, a passionate career changer with the same philosophy, we offered an exclusive wine tasting. Directly from the Sausal, the two presented their best wines, accompanied by a varied selection of refined street food courses.
The team of Martin Azzu (Holzhütt’n & Meat Atelier) and mizu-san created a culinary experience that combined Asian and Styrian flavours in a unique way:
- Amuse: Iberico house sausage, minced meat, miso nori butter and homemade bread, accompanied by dashi and fish jelly.
- 1st course: Baked rice with BBQ goose, radish, rocket and spicy mayo, harmonised with the Kaarriegel ‘Alte Reben’ 2020.
- 2nd course: Baked cheddar cheese potato slice with sweet potato, radish and parsley, paired with the ‘Young, wild & free’ 2022 beak.
- 3rd course: Pulled pork taco with Asian cabbage and pumpkin, accompanied by Sauvignon Blanc ‘Legionär’ 2021.
- 4th course: Fresh bratwurst with curry, homemade toast and parsley, served with the ‘Weiss’ Kaarriegel 2022.
- Dessert: A crowning finale with tonka bean waffle, matcha, pumpkin, plum, churros and grapefruit ice cream, perfectly combined with the Schnabel ‘Rotburger’ 2021.
The atmosphere was relaxed, warm and full of enthusiasm – a real feast for the senses. The mixture of natural, characterful wines and creative appetisers made for an unforgettable taste experience.
A big thank you to everyone who took part! We are already looking forward to the next event and further culinary adventures together.
